Dock Tile 2.0.1 A small patch release fixing a long-standing first-click annoyance.

Fixed

  • Clicking a tile no longer needs an extra click. When a tile's helper started cold from a Dock click, an internal guard could silently swallow your next click on that tile — it looked like the tile just didn't respond. The guard is now time-bounded to the launch itself, so every click acts. (#12)

Dock Tile 2.0.0 A redesigned app and a rebuilt icon engine — the biggest update since 1.0.

Added

  • A new main window: your tiles, all settings, and About now live in one window with a sidebar — no more separate Settings and About windows.
  • Popover settings: configure how every tile's popover looks — size, tile size, spacing, labels, hover highlight, and animation — with a live preview. Grid and List layouts are configured independently, and changes can be applied to tiles already in your Dock.
  • Edit tiles in the real popover: "In This Tile" now shows the exact popover your Dock tile opens — hover to remove an app, drag to reorder, click Add to pick apps and folders.
  • Send Feedback in About opens a message straight to the developer.

Changed

  • Tiles now sit on Apple's official icon grid, with the same margins as every other Dock icon — they look slightly smaller than before, and that's intentional: they finally match their neighbours.
  • On macOS Tahoe, macOS itself renders your tiles in every icon style — Default, Dark, Clear, and Tinted follow your system setting instantly and reliably.
  • The app's own previews follow Light/Dark mode and icon-style changes live, just like the rest of macOS.
  • Turning off "Suggest tiles from my apps" makes the + button create a blank tile directly — no dialog.

Fixed

  • Tiles no longer get stuck in the wrong appearance when switching between Light and Dark or changing icon styles.
  • Tiles no longer randomly change size in the Dock.
  • On macOS 15, icon-style changes apply faster with no background polling.
  • Emoji icons stay fully inside the tile at every size.
  • "Start tiles at login" now explains itself in Settings if macOS refuses the registration, instead of silently switching back off.
  • "Show in App Switcher" is disabled with an explanation while its tile is hidden — it only applies to tiles in the Dock.

Dock Tile 1.8.8 Sharper missing-app detection.

Fixed

  • An uninstalled app no longer shows as installed when an unrelated app with the same name — or a copy sitting in the Trash — stands in for it.

Changed

  • The missing-app scan is faster, skipping deeper checks when macOS has already located the app.

Dock Tile 1.8.7 Reliability fixes for Dock updates.

Fixed

  • Removing a tile from the Dock now always sticks — a restarting Dock could silently undo the removal, leaving the tile pinned until a second attempt.

Added

  • Helper tiles record a diagnostic sample automatically if they ever spin at high CPU, so Copy Diagnostics can pinpoint the cause.

Smart Add suggestion fix.

Fixed

  • The Add a Tile sheet no longer offers two suggestions with the same name and icon. Apps you tend to open together now get their own "Together" tile (orange, link icon) instead of showing up as a second "Work" tile beside the real productivity suggestion — every suggested tile has a distinct name and icon.

Emoji icon rendering fixes.

Fixed

  • Removed a faint translucent rectangle that appeared behind emoji tile icons in every icon style — the glossy sheen highlight is now clipped to the emoji's own shape.

Changed

  • Emoji tile icons now size consistently: every emoji fills the same proportion of the tile and sits optically centred, instead of some emoji rendering larger, smaller, or off-centre at the same Icon Size.
  • Raised the Icon Size range for emoji up to 22 (was 19), with each larger step staying visually distinct.
